Packers and Movers in India
Moving house can be a trying experience. We bring you everything you should know
about packers and movers in India.
Moving to an entirely different city can be a traumatic experience. You have to
adjust to living in a strange city, get out of your comfort zone of your
relatives and friends, find a home in a city that you know very little about,
schools for your children, phone and gas connections...
There’s a gamut of options when it comes to packers and movers in
India. At one end of the scale is the mover who will just move your belongings
from destination A to B, leaving you to handle the rest. At the other end is
the professional relocation company that helps you find homes and apartments,
get children admission in schools, purchase cars or hire them, and recruit
domestic help. It doesn’t end there: it may even help you get gas, phone,
Internet connections and furniture.
So how do you select the best option? As we mentioned earlier, there’s no
shortage of packers and movers in India. Selecting the right
one will depend on your budget and time constraints. If you are reasonably
familiar with the city you’re moving to, and have friends and acquaintances to
fall back on, you can go in for a plain vanilla moving company. These do a
fairly good job of expertly packing your belongings and delivering them to your
new home.
On the other hand, if you don’t know anyone in the new city, it’s best to go in
for a company that offers the entire range of relocation services -- especially
if it’s your company that’s picking up the tab.
Choose a packer and mover with some experience in handling household goods.
Household goods need some expert packing and care, or you could end up with a
lot of damaged goods. If you hunt around, you’ll get some good deals. But
remember that cheaper isn’t always better.
You also have to choose the right season to move. Some parts of the country get
especially heavy rains during the monsoon. If packaged properly, your
possessions can be insulated from rain damage, but there are no guarantees.
Similarly, it can get very hot during the summers in certain areas, and there’s
a chance that computers, electronic goods etc could get damaged in the heat. In
any event, insure your property against damage.
